Build ideas for Shadow of the Erdtree?

Haven't played in a long time and booting up the game (on Playstation) and looking at my characters none of them really clicked so figured it might be best to just start from scratch as should be able to make my way through the game about time the expansion comes out and then just hop right onto that when it's time.

But what to roll.. i always play casters so probably not one of those.. if we knew what kinda miracles were in the expansions then maybe but for now.. how are dex builds doing, post early game?

Rather than a new weapon, I'm hoping for some better Crucible spells. I really want to like the ones we have now, but they really really suck. I have gotten enough practice with them to be able to knock people in the arena out with the Horns every once in a while. I've also caught a couple with the Tail, but I think in those cases they'd just never seen the spell before. I could just see the palpable confusion on their pixelly little faces as they got whapped in the ribcage.
