I think I might have discovered a plot hole
So I was thinking about this a while back, and I realized that the existence of Ranni, Radahn and Rykard kinda breaks the story in a really obvious place. So the confirmed royal family tree looks like this:
Marika marries Godfrey and they have three children, Godwyn, Morgott and Mohg. Radagon marries Renalla and they have Ranni, Radahn and Rykard. Radagon leaves Renalla without warning and marries Marika and they have Melenia and Miquella. Somewhere down the line one or more of the demigods get busy with one or more unnamed people and in a distant branch of the family tree Godrick is born, Makes sense?
Well the reason demi gods are demi gods is because they are related to a god, the god in question being queen Marika, but if you look closely at the family tree you'll notice the three R siblings are not related to Marika in any way, there's no reason they should have been demigods. From our point of view this isn't that weird, Radagon is Marika, so Radagon just has demigod children probably, but the thing is the people in the lands between don't know this, it is an incredibly well kept secret that only like four people in history ever learned, so did nobody think it was weird when two champions just miraculously gave birth to three demigods? You'd think that would be an international headline, but it seems like there wasn't a single person in the lands between that questioned it and I honestly think it might just be a plot hole

Turtle pope explains to you early in the game. As soon as Radagon becomes Marika's consort, making him Elden Lord, it gives him demigod status, which also makes all his children demigods too. This is why Ranni, Radahn and Rykard are demigods.

And the restricted info was more an open secret in their entourage (Mask of Confidence, the statue thing). So even their children knew it. But because it was set in distant past, the Tarnished, who lived outside the Lands Between at that moment, can't know about it.

One more time someone mispells MALENIA and a puppy will die :steamhappy:
Also, what others already said.

I have wondered about this too. If no-one knows about the true identity of Radagon, why would they be accepted as demigods. This retro-active transfer of demigod status seems a bit contrived.

Want a plot hole? Here's a plot hole:

  • During Ranni's questline you learn from Sellen that Ranni's destiny cannot move forward because her fate is tied to the movement of the stars.

  • Sellen also says that Radahn is preventing the stars from moving, and that once he dies the stars will resume their motion.

  • The festival of Redmane Castle, which allows you to fight Radahn starts when the stars are aligned.

But the sun is moving... maybe arrested stars movement is not equal to not moving at all?

Good point, the day/night cycle was a very obvious sign that the stars do move.

I mean if we stretch it, maybe? doesn't it sound really stupid tho?

This is interesting but the fingers choose emperyons. I figured the R-kids were promoted when papa got to godhood.

Tbf when I was reading your comment I had a thought they actually could keep it in day time and make it working only if you would beat Radahn. And then fix the Jerren line and instead of stars aligned he could say something like the time has come.

That would be so damn cool if killing Radahn started the day/night cycle.

...could it be that this was what was originally planned? It would explain why Radahn's introduction as a whole-ass cutscene and is so grandiose compared to the others.

What was originally planned was that Astel, or a copy of him, would crash-land into the arena when Radahn kicked it. That got cut for some reason, so we're left with a really elaborate cutscene and then beating on a decrepit grampa along with every hoodlum in the area, who's about to keel over from Scarlet Rot anyway, but can still kick your ass mercilessly. Cutting that really cheapens the impact of the fight. You don't feel like you actually won a proper battle against this legendary figure, he's at his weakest and you just beat on him until he croaks. It's anticlimactic.

I have difficulty with mating imagery among any of them. It's worse than parents even.

But Radagon is Merika, all of his kids are her kids.
