Game suddenly keeps crashing
Hello I have a weird problem that never happened to me before. I reinstalled Elden Ring now because I wanted to replay it, and suddenly the game keeps crashing non stop before the game even loads.
I checked solutions and tried almost everything: the specs of the PC are optimal
(Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900KF CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
16 Ram
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti), I downloaded Geforce to upgrade my driver, I checked if the files were corrupted thrice, I uninstalled and installed the game a second time and deleted almost all of my other games to have an enormous amount of memory and yet it still crashes.
It never happened before but only now the game betrays me. At one point after installing Geoforce the game stopped crashing, I fought a boss fight for half an hour and then I decided to fight Malenia and as I travel there, the game crashed again with the entirety of Steam. And it crashed again as I speak.
Can anyone help me?

Temperature 1 48 degC without load at the GPU how high it goes during running a game ?
it does not show the max temperature in this log only a snapshot of the actual temperatures.
btw a sceenshot could be read far more easy.
Kinda hard with one monitor, but I’ll try nonetheless. (I didn’t know you could send screenshots)

I restarted it and worked like a charm, idk what the hell happened. Also, did you try starting a new game or loading another save in case you have one? That was another fix that worked some time ago. You start the game start a new game or load another save, then go with the actual save.
You mean restarted deleted the game and reinstalled? Because I am doing it for the third time.
And yeah, I loaded a save, killed a boss (Mohg) went to Malenia and got my Pc crashed. Then I made a new character, same crashing.
I have even checked all the Nvidia RTX upgrades online and downloaded them are reinstalled the driver. Still crashed

the last you could test is for a faulty windows user profile, create a new windows administrator and start the game there, test again for a crash at the same point, if it not happen it is a faulty user profile if it happen again two options:

windows fault to a point where repairs do not work or a hardware problem

this is how to create a new administrator profile

Since trying to play today after a long period of not playing it - the performance has become increasingly worse. It was a bit ropey at launch sometimes, but it was never this bad. I am not sure what has happened here. I am far above required specs as well and there are fps drops and there is slight lag.

Mohg and Radahn were both an issue because of this. Every time Mohg uses a blood attack, there was a slight lag and the same for Radahn and his gravity attack.
It's not acceptable in a game like this where timing is everything.

And I started noticing small graphic glitches over the screen. I give up trying to fix it, I’ll go to the PC shop and ask some questions.
Thanks for your time, I’ll let you know if things happen.

P.S.: Is it normal that my PC emits strong noises as if it was running the biggest software ever, when I just turned it on and was writing on Word?
When I checked the temperature from HWmonitor it stopped, maybe it’s normal, I’ll check tomorrow.

could be caused by the problems windows 11 has actually, microsoft screwed up windows 11 with the last two updates and want to fix it soon.
since the last update also my windows 11 freaks out with crashes at taskbar and windows internal functions (system repairs fixed it for a while till i tested elden ring and the problems appeared again) so actually we have to wait till microsoft fix this damn OS.

Oh really? So you are telling me that maybe there is a chance that I don’t have to bring my box to the PC repair shop? That would be great and make my day better, then let’s hope the update comes fast.
If I wait, write on word, or play some smaller in the meantime it doesn’t ruin the PC right?
Hopefully they have an ETA if not I can wait

i think a info will popup in the forum after microsoft fixed the actual problems, after the last few days where many windows 11 users posted they have suddenly crashes i got yesterday evening a info that windows 11 has actually a huge problem caused by windows updates.

since i have actually a lot of work to do i'm not fully informed what is going on at the OS side so the info was a aha moment what is going on.

https://www.pcworld.com/article/2249204/microsoft-confirms-broken-windows-11-update-offers-workaround.html

thanks to sparhawk for the info, i'm to busy at the moment to check anything around this but others like sparhawk have a eye on it too.

I was having a similar issue when I picked the game back up. I noticed that the crashes mainly happened in certain areas (i.e. my game kept crashing in the Forbidden Lands). The way I fixed it was going into the game's settings on the Steam library and I took some time to let steam verify the game files. It takes 20 or so minutes for it to find out what's wrong and redownload the proper files.
