Best way to beat Renalla without Rock Sling as a pure Staff Mage
So i love challenge runs and my next goal is a no death all bosses run.

But with the restriction that i need to kill every Boss in an Area before iam allowed to move to the next, but also have to follow a specific path (i used the area level for this).

So Limgrave -> Liurnia -> Ainsel/Siofra -> Caelid south/ Altus Plateau -> ...

In my Sorcery only run, iam also not allowed to use any Weapon beside Staffs and Spells,
Which proofed to be a tiny problem against Renalla, because i did not expect to deal pretty much no damage to her.
So i run out of juice in phase 2 already.

So i need more preparation for my second run.
How would you tackle this fight?

1. Consumables

Maybe stacking alot of them?
But which would be the most effective?

2. Spirit Ash

Which early Spirit Ash would be the most effective in dealing damage to her?

3. Spinnig Weapon AoW

Never used it, but would it work against her?

4. Something else

Maybe iam missing something, so every tipp is welcome.

have you tried carian slicer? that should still work well enough and it doesn't guzzle FP, you could also stack the magic scorpion charm and the physick that boosts magic too

Probably ice sorceries, some are available after Carian Manor, the proc itself does dmg, and applies a defense debuff on the boss

The Magic Scorpion requires to go into the Altus Plateu to get the Amber

I mean, physical spells are how int builds deal damage to Rennala. It isn't cheating. That is literally what the tool is for.

You could probably get away with some poorly-scaling item, or a raw something or another, but it wouldn't be too far from SL1 in either power or philosophy. If you want your int to scale into damage, use a physical spell like meteor.

God....are you going to kill Radagon with holy pizzas and rot Malenia?.
Very well.

1- Go to the smoldering church after killing the first tibia mariner. Deal with Anastasia and loot

https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Nomadic+Warrior's+Cookbook+%2814%29

Arm yourself with poison consumables.

2- The wolves, save them for phase 2.

3- The damage of that ash of war is worse than pathetic using a staff but thats your only choice.

4- Bonk the gravestones (kids) singing with your staff melee attack. That should be enough to kill them and get her down after three bubbles.

And last thing. Hug her for phase 2, that way you will be able to dodge her comet Azur and other spells without problem. Pay attention to the troll, dragon and bloodhound knight she summons.

I used Carian Slicer and i burned most of my Flask to get threw her health in Phase 1.
The Damage was super low.
Maybe if i dont go for 40 Vigor so fast and pump more into INT i can get more out of it this time.
I use the Magic Physic, but it did not help enough.

I forgot that Seluvis sells two of them, that could help a bit.
Maybe if i can proc it 2-3 times combined with the rest.
So thats on my list for sure.

Rock Sling is the most obvious choice, but you'd have to sequence break by going to Caelid early. Getting any fire element sorceries would be even worse.

If you're wiling to use consumables, Kukris cause bleed, and are sold by the merchant on the eastern side of Weeping Peninsula, on the road to Castle Morne. That plus the freeze recommendation from Dollmaker will help. If you don't have enough FP for Carian Slicer to finish her off, then you might have to wait for the freeze effect to finish and re-freeze her over and over instead... Sounds grand.

Never tried the normal Spinning Weapon ash of war. Go test it out on the basic spellcasters around Raya Lucaria. It's probably going to be awful!

Edit: oh, yeah, and poison consumables. Glad someone mentioned that.

It would be nice to get a weak version (Rock Pebble) of that in Limgrave or Liurnia.
Folowing my rules just dosent allow getting Rock Sling, which makes her a complete joke of course.

Bleed proc sounds good, combined with the frost proc, nice idea.

Ok so now we have solid Frost, Bleed and Poison sources, i can already see myself panic scrolling threw my item selection while fighting her, nice!

Bonking to save some mana is also a simple but good idea.

I assume the Wolves can stunlock her? If so that could work pretty well.

And yes sticking close to her worked pretty well, but at that point i was already out of mana and watched Luthel fetish offighting her Summons insted of her.
But at least i went down bonking her.

Now i only need the best way to get through her Phase one, maybe just carian slicer with more Int and more Mana.

So far thanks alot guys, i already feel well prepared.
