Softcaps for dexterity and strength
i looked up some info but I am confused. sometimes it says 45 sometimes 55.

I used uchigatana from the beginning, i have 40 dexterity and planning to make a quality build and use greatswords later.

should I stop at 40 dexterity and focus on strength now or...? i would like to hear your advice

Someone can correct me if im wrong but im 90% sure 40 is the soft cap where scaling begins to slow, 60 is the midpoint and recommended, and 80 is the hard cap.
I suggest going 50/50 in both or 60/60 if you have enough levels.

Primary breakpoints are 50, 60, and 80:
50 for the elemental AP when it benefits from this stat (primarily lightning affinity); gains drop substantially beyond this point.
60 for the physical AP on all affinities; 56-60 will give lower returns than 60-80.

Quality build should be 55 enough

You should be looking at the increases beyond a "stopping point" and making the decision for yourself on a case-by-case basis using the information you've already read. If there's a lot of "meat on the bone" and you pivot to a different stat, you're spreading levels too thin.

I recommend going Strength build until mid-game and when you're around level 90, consider pivoting into a different build. Save quality and occult builds for end-game and NG+, to get the most out of those.

Tip: For dual-wield builds, since you're not getting any sort of two-handing strength bonus, it is recommended to not use an affinity reliant on strength for scaling.
