There's a summon pool outside his boss fight, could always use that. You could also employ one of the numerous methods of chain knockdown the game has, since he has ♥♥♥♥ all poise and basically gives you the first blow due to his monologue.

You need to have empty field in "multiplayer password" for that feature to work, or be lucky that whoever would be placing sign down use same password as you were. You can use maliketh's black blade or Rykard's blasphemous blade and just spam aow until he is dead.
