Champions gear set... new secret?

Why do 60% of the players I encounter wear the champion gear set, is there some sort of progress to a side mission you get that I dont know about? Cant seem to find anything online about it.

Isnt that the starting armor for one of the classes, Hero was it?

Theres no secret to it, pretty sure you can just buy it from a merchant.

It has pretty good stats considering it's lightweight capacity. So it's good for general defense while allowing you to keep skinny rolls or mid rolls. A lot of the better defense sets will make most people fat roll and they don't like that.
