a question about the carian retaliation Ash of war

this is a small one as i was making my sorcerer for the dlc but i was curious if infusing your shield with a status effect like in this case, cold actually did anything as i just realized as i put it on my shield of choice that you can actually cold infuse it. if you can make carian retaliation apply status effects through its in fusions, this spell becomes SO damn op on shields so i gotta know if this actually works or not?

Infusing your shield with a status effect will only apply said status effect if you actively attack with the shield.
Carian Retaliation itself will not be affected by the infusion.
