The DLC reportedly are only 16GB in size
Well, that is one hell of an optimization, i knew 16GB will be small in size but big in content, cuz Sekiro is around that size as well for the whole game.

Good, proper compression is a dying art

Indeed, we don't need a 150GB absurd game like Warzone lolol.

Because Fromsoft have competent game devs that don't make a 200gb football game.

edit: queue the videos of all the Fromsoft jank in their games.

I mean, it helps massively the game doesn't have that much dialogue. Those files can take a huge chunk. Or cutscenes.

Doesn't matter to me - It'll be a better game than about 90% out there.

There's a lot of stuff that can affect the file size, and the proper use of inheritance in the code, textures/audio compression and efficient use of polygons in meshes can change a whole lot.

It's also obvious but worth mentioning that a DLC uses the main game as a base, so a bunch of stuff isn't going to add to the size of the DLC when it does in the main game.
You do realise that they packed a game as big as ER under 60 gigs , other studios would make it 100 gigs or so , just look at bg 3

Absolutly nothing to do with proper compression xD assets in this game are for the most part extremly low res and even for big sized textures. And the dlc will certainly re use assets from the main, so there is nothing extrordinary here...
You're right, I misunderstood what compression actually is

Maybe just add 2 or 4 more GBs and we're good

Modern games have conditioned a generation of people to accept absurdly large, hard-drive-consuming downloads and patches. Thank goodness the trend hasn't infected Fromsofware.
