Thanks imma check it out.
IDK I was thinking maybe have a dungeon that gets randomized and once you die you get kicked out of the dungeon and you can repeat it
Maybe but this game is far too large as it is. If you explore every cave, ever ruin etc you are not going to ask for more by the time you get to Mountaintops of the Giants.
Lords of the Fallen did it with great success.
They added modifyers that literally turns the game into a roguelike.
If you die, you start the game over with the same character but you keep levels invested, gear etc. With the randomizer option turned on, all the loot besides important key items are shuffled, so you always have new item placement.
Speak for yourself, thank you. I would gladly play a randomized roguelike game mode. Even if they add one, it wouldn't affect you if you don't want to play it, so why are you even here trying to tell others what they want?
The only place where a bit of randomization WOULD actually work is in the caves, catacombs and evergaols. The placement of bosses already feel kinda of random in a lot of them as it is.
But as far as randomly generated environments, i just don't see how that would fit. Even the catacombs in Elden RIng shared that unique FromSoft design, each of them having different gimmicks that got more and more complex as the game went along. The catacombs were like miniature legacy dungeons, or fragments of a larger dungeon.
You can't create good level design through randomization. It has been tried many times and the results have always been a mixed bag. There's a mod for Doom that attempted to create randomly generated maps but they pale compared to user made wads. Hand crafted content means quality over quantity. Look how much hate Lost Izalith got from fans and that one actually felt randomly made.
you absolutely can create a good level with random generation, the question is how often a good dungeon may appear.
also it would be cool to have a dungeon random seed as a reward for beating it, so players might share seeds to regenerate same dungeons at will, by using a seed as an input (some kind of mechanisms yada yada)
