Crashing on startup
Hi, i need some help. I've been following some other discussions related to my problem since some people have been getting the crashes on startup too, and I'm trying to locate my elden ring crash log but i dont know how. I've already checked online and I dont really know how I can tell which file is my elden ring crash log, and I haven't been able to finish my first playthough because of the constant crashing. Played this game years ago and since I have been getting the same issues back to back I couldnt even finish the game. Sometimes the game crashes when I just start it and I cant even see the white screen. It just says on steam that the game is running and then it turns off and says i can play again. Other times i get to see the white screen, and if I am lucky enough I get to see the bandai thingy and then crashes. I was once lucky enough to get to the character screen and was able to log into my dex run but then when i finally thought i could play it crashed for no reason. Need some help

This is a log of concern.

Is this a Desktop or a Laptop ?

So far there are this possible causes for this log.

Faulty windows/subsystems
Faulty gpu driver
A background app cause problems
Damage at the in use Administrator profile

I do not know what else you done in the System there are Tools that can damage Windows in a way that a repair is not possible and a fresh install would be needed.

For now you can try the basic troubleshooting.

Check for a bios update and update it if a new one is available.

Open command prompt as Administrator and run these commands

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

After this is finished

Sfc /scannow

Repair both c++ redistributables.

https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe
https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe

Anything deeper would need a System analysis of Background apps, drivers and some more stuff.

This is a desktop, it's really old i'm 19 and i've had it since i was 13-14 and i had multiple different problems trought the years. Had them checked out and solved at the end but the system itself is still the same. I have an old graphic card too. I can play elden ring and other games tho but not in high graphic settings. I don't really know much about computers because i just play games but i will do everything you said. I just hope to be able to play the game again someday :steamsad: .

Should i start troubleshooting in that same order of things you said? I'll start by checking if there's a bios update available and then move on to cleaning the windows corrupt files. Then i'll reinstall c++ thingies. And if i cant play after that I'm cooked :theskull:

Do you recommend doing everything first and then try to launch the game to see if it works or to try launching the game every step of the way to see if it works along this troubleshooting?

this is a all in one repair howto for windows and the subsystems involved into connecting elden ring to windows and drivers.

all of the commands and repairs are involved so you can say only the whole process can fix this specific issue.
