make sure you're farming from the right one, Fextra says it can only drop from one specific Knight in the game

Yeah, FromSoft sometimes does retarded things like that.

On the plus side, the knight that DOES drop it is easy to farm. He is like, right there, close to the site of grace.

Yeah, tying the shield drop to one specific knight was a really strange decision, I was pondering that for a while when I was doing my 100% run. Like, I would understand if that one knight was guaranteed to drop the shield first time, that would make sense. But why give a percentage-based drop rate to *one specific knight* that has no distinguishing features whatsoever? Unless they happen to get lucky and get the shield the first time through, no one is ever going to find it without a guide. Just... why? What was the rationale? :er_sweat:

Dark Souls was always designed with multiple playthroughs in mind, and sometimes they did design things to be based on pure random luck because in the older games you weren't expected to 100% everything on the first playthrough.

The problem in this particular case however is that there's no indication the other knights wouldn't drop it. So you end up with cases like the OP, where one tries to farm it off the wrong knights and waste a lot of time for nothing.

I'm pretty sure the Banished Knight armor is the same. That is, it only drops from the guys in Castle Sol, nowhere else if i remember correctly.

In that case at least I believe that those knights are the only ones actually wearing the unaltered version of the armor. There's at least a bit of method to the madness in that instance.
didnt know i missed this shield, checked youtube for path, first kill. thank you!
