I'm also using a number of Heavy Str weapons and buffing - Rotten Greataxe, Brick Hammer, Great Stars, etc
Since you specifically asked about Waves of Darkness on a Heavy Infusion, that will not do a lot of damage, but it will do decent area denial, and the stagger will always remain.
Waves of Darkness appears to scale exclusively with Int from my personal experience, or atleast it scales vastly more with Int than it does Strength.
If the low scaling is bothersome, consider using a Magic/Cold infused Zweihander, or the Royal Greatsword.
Both are amazing and powerful weapons, and particularily the Zweihander has vastly more utility than the Colossal Greatsword thanks to its thrusting R2 attack and much lighter weight.
If you decide to use a more Strength-leaning build, consider using the Ruins Greatsword, it is a very fun and powerful weapon aswell, although it essentially is just a Strength weapon that essentially ignores Int outside of the required 16.
Essentially, yes. Particularily with a Frost infusion you can take advantage of Frostbite buildup on your attacks aswell, providing extra burst damage.
As i said, the Ruins Greatsword is essentially just a pure Strength weapon with a low Int requirement. Very good base damage and scaling, but only if you lean into Strength more than Int.
and i need still to invest more in Int for ash scaling despite B scaling on str
sad bec i liked Guts modeL)
If you prefer direct damage, use Magic infusion. If you like added status effects, use Frost.
Both work just fine in any case, and you cannot go wrong here.
The buff makes the weapon look awesome not to mention the weapon itself is one of the best looking greatswords in the game.
