I'm going back and replaying all the souls games in order to better understand it.
I started back in 2010 with ds1 and i only played demon's souls later on. I've played all of them except bloodbourne but what is making me do this is very simple. I love Miyazaki's works. I just found out that the game's lore was meant to be interpreted based upon what the user thought. I never read any of the wiki's on the story of the series . I'm glad i didn't because i want to try to interpret the entire story on my own. I just thought the in game items give you back story for a few things going on . I know the games are really deep but its been so long I can barely even remember what the games were about.

I have a really good memory but to be honest my runs with the earlier games were just me trying to beat the bosses . I didn't really do an analysis to fully understand the game as i have done with a game like cyberpunk2077. I feel as though due to me being a young teen back in 2010 ... I robbed myself a proper experience . There is still much lore I've yet to fully understand about these games and I want to keep it that way until i start over .

As of tonight I will be starting all the way from the very beginning with Demon's Souls and i will piece it all together and take notes as i go along. I just found out that Miyazaki wanted the player to interpret the hidden story in their own way. This would mean that simply reading the wiki online might genuinely rob me of the experience miyazaki wanted us to have .

I may even do a video series on youtube as i talk about my own personal interpretation of what the heck is actually going on in the series . I think this will be very fun to do and now I get to go back but this time enjoy all the DLC i missed out on back in the xbox 360 era.

YES I KNOW I COULD JUST LOOK ON THE WIKI BUT ..... What if those interpretations are incorrect ? How would i know unless i dive really deep myself ? I have tons of free time to do so and I love the series . I think its time for me to do a proper analysis of these games.

It's sad really ... because even though i love the series and played all of them except bloodbourne , if you ask me what was ds1, ds2, or even ds3 about . The truth is I was only able to piece together so much and the little i did come up with isn't much . I need to revisit the entire series if i really want to understand it. I haven't played DS1 since like 2010 .

I do just that, finished DS1 last month, DS2 last week and now on to DS3. I do this for the fun but indeed many lore issues are more clear now.

Oh wow ! so you've actually done this yourself ? Nice ! I hope you enjoyed the journey. I have to revisit this because my first runs were just " how do i beat the bosses " . I read all of the items but at the same time i never tried to put it all together . I think I'll better be able to appreciate it after going back through .

Oh and one part i forgot to mention is the main reason for doing this . Yes I want a proper understanding but I was recently revisiting the matrix series and understanding how deep the movies are and it reminded me that DS lore is deep . If miyazaki actually said himself that he didn't want to flat out give the player a story and wanted you to put puzzle pieces together to see how deep it goes , it got me thinking about something .

What if the popular interpretations that are all over the wiki are misinterpreted ? Sure i could go just read the wiki but if i do that i could be misinformed . I will never truly know unless i really break it down the same way i did with cyberpunk2077 after 686 hrs .

While nobody is %100 accurate on the lore AFAIK, this blogger does an excellent job of explaining the "timey wimey" stuff and why everything in DS2 and 3 seems out of place or mashed together (all stemming from a mistranslation in localizations, for example Solaire saying "time is convoluted" is actually "time is stagnant":

Just one question what made you come to the conclusion that nobody is 100% accurate on the lore ? This is interesting to me as this is one of the things i thought to myself . I'm curious as to what brought you to the conclusion of people not being accurate on its lore .

This is just fantastic, OP. Thanks for this...."update".

I will recomend you to chill and actually focus re-enjoying all Miyazaki works. By reading your posts you make it look like only a grizzled market analyst would be able to understand the lore behind the games...lol.

Relax, drink a cup of chamomile (or LIBER-TEA) and treat yourself. Have fun with whatever you decide to do, OP.

I personally don't pay much attention to Souls story because they clearly aren't story games, the atmosphere and combat system are the focus. If you want From story games, play Sekiro or Armored Core, characters are actual characters there and you know what they are thinking and fighting for.

Still have some neat things like Darkroot garden in DaS1 and the swamp in DaS3 tho, I cry erry times.

Well, there was an interview where Miyazaki said he purposely left out some key details so that people would make their own theories. So I figure unless someone speaks directly with him, it would be tough to be 100% accurate.
I understand now .
