Could be better, could be worse.
Finished the game with kbm without any ashes, summones, OP stuff and what not - so its totally doable with kbm.
Only things i tweaked: Mouse macro on thumb button to dodge on pressing the button - not at releasing the button and another macro on the other button for switching off-hand item.
For a good setup, this is what i use:
-Movement Control / Walk - Alt
-Regular movement - WASD
-Backstep, dodge roll, dash, - Space Bar
-Jump - mouse 4 (first shoulder button), i know, it sounds weird, but having dodge on space is too important, first game ever i don't have it on space. It feels more like an attack move anyway.
-Crouch / Stand up - Ctrl
-Lock-on - Q
-Switch Sorcery / Incantation - 3
-Switch Item - 4
-Switch Right Hand - 1
-Switch Left Hand - 2
-Attack right hand - left mouse
-Strong attack - mouse 3 (mouse wheel button)
-Guard / left hand - right mouse
-Skill - Shift
-Use item - F
-Event Action - E and mouse 5 on secondary
Then, i also put my health and mana potions on the event action quick menu on 1 and 2, much better than cycling your items constantly.
My opinion?
Having backstep, dodge roll and dash on the same function is some of the worst movement design i have ever seen, i couldn't screw it up this badly even if i tried. Use and the quick menu (which also is used to unequip and equip your primary or off hand) on the same button has killed me more than once when i realized i unequipped my weapon, off hand being your primary ash of war without a proper way to switch is another blatant flaw. It feels like the controls were made to handicap people in the worst ways possible and just be in the way.
