starting from scratch ?

Is this possible to start the DLC from scratch level 1 or with a pre-built character without doing the main game or is it mandatory to replay through the base game.

the dlc is supposedly a "fresh start" from what ive read, there is supposedly a new currency for leveling in it.

to access the dlc you must defeat mogh though.

this is bad for me then because I just started a NG+ after finishing the main game and stopped here

You can race to mogh, maybe? You have until June.

Talk to varre a few times, skip stormveil and find varre again in liurnia, invade a few times, get virgin blood, visit mogh, summon some bros, and then be back at the pub before you know it.

NG+ is a lot (!) easier, than a first playthrough with a fresh char also!

Apparently you need to have beaten Radahn and Mohg to be able to access the DLC area, so some base game will be necessary (Varre's quest is the fastest way to access Mohg, otherwise you need to get all the way to the Consecrated Snowfield...)

You'll have to beat Mohg, so if you're confident you can do that RL1, then go for it
