The artistic inspiration and style of this game is on par with legendary PC games like the original Myst and The Dream Machine - among the best of the best of the best... of the best.

Unfortunately, the photorealism (texture quality, lighting, and view distance) of this game's graphics aren't as impressive as the most realistic looking PC games right now. This is likely because FROM wanted this game to be compatible with the previous generations of consoles. Hopefully this will be rectified in the future ... just as Half Life 2 is getting a jaw-dropping RTX Remix, I hope Elden Ring gets an official graphical remix within a few years. It certainly deserves it!

At 1080p the biggest issue is the TAA. It's absolutely horrendous. On top of that there is a sharpening filter and on top of that there is chromatic aberration. Combined you get a very noisy image with very jaggy aliasing.

However there is a new dlss/dlaa mod on nexus now that injects through reshade. Hands down the best visual mod you can do to the game especially if you play on lower resolution. Combine that with the remove sharpening filter and chromatic aberration mods and the game looks stunning.

Fromsoftware annoy me when it comes to stuff like this because they could really polish off their game with implementing simple things that modders have easily managed to do.

No, with all the options maxed MY Elden Ring looks objectively fantastic. And im typing this as someone who owns and enjoyed all the Unreal 5 powered eye candy like Lords of the Fallen and Remnant 2......

Why cant we have a wholesome thread about the undeniable Elden Ring graphical quality without having to post verbiage or bash From? meh.....

It's a paradox. People like me gripe a lot about 9/10 games that are within reach of a perfect 10/10 with just a few tweaks, yet gripe very little about your typical 7/10 game that's good fun for 15 or so hours then never gets played again.

Good to hear about that ReShade mod. But alas, I can only use vanilla ReShade without plugins because I like to fight online sometimes.
