There are weapon with raw Attack Rating but bad movesets, there are weapons that have a good moveset but Damage is mediocre and there are weapons that dont even fit into your own playstyle.

A guide outdated by a year?
You can definitely have fun build completely around the sword, but you'd be gimped by not being specialized in either or for your first playthrough, since the sword isn't really optimal.
