When is the right time to enter Seluvis' hidden chamber?

I finally got to the three towers and I really want to get some puppets, but I've read some quest guides and they say that first I have to give the potion to one of the three NPC's and confirm to him that it's done before I should enter the chamber. Now I'm afraid to go there and lose his quest line and all the other puppets. Have I really to wait until I gave the potion to the Dung Eater (that's my goal)? Then it will take an eternity to get there and get the first puppets..

you can go into the chamber whenever you want, even before meeting Seluvis. That's what I did and I was still able to finish his quest.
