How long can I postpone Rogier's quest?

You only get the +8 after killing Godrick and then telling Rogier that you defeated him in the Roundtable. So just don't talk to him there.

You can always just not use it. lol

It's not like having an upgraded weapon gifted to you as part of a quest ruins the challenge.

Using it would ruin the challenge.

Don't forget about the random +8 halberd you get in Liurnia too.

You can also just drop these things when you receive them. Or sell them

You can do all of Rogier's quest. Just do not pick up the dagger. It will simply sit there, forever, and not influence match making. You can pick up the other stuff though, but maybe save before doing so in case you accidentally pick up the wrong stuff.

Be warned that the guy from Weeping Peninsula invades somewhere, iirc, around western Liurna Lake and his weapon is auto deposited straight into your inventory so simply run from him and do not kill him. This, unfortunately, means you can't get all the grapes.

You can never do his quest. You can still do Fia's questline and fight Fortissax while never talking to Rogier.

Never understood why this thing (or patches weapon) is +8. I mean... Why? Nothing else is pre-upgraded.

I think its intended to act as a anti-twink mechanic by knocking people drastically out of the matchmaking of particularly low level players hence the three +8 weapons with the final one being forcibly deposited into your inventory that I mentioned.
