Is Rivers of Blood Still Infamous?

I haven't done a proper bleed build yet, I've used weapons like the Godskin Peeler's, Uchigatana, and spells like Bloodflame blade. And never with my arcane above 20. However there are two things that deter me from doing so.

1. I want to use River of Bloods, but the weapon has had an unbelievably chaotic reception. Thus I want to know if I use this weapon in PvP will people still go crazy pulling out their own version or blocking the player's account? Even if I don't ever use the Weapon Art, and instead rely on guard counters? I'm not that much of a fan of Double Slash which Rivers of Blood basically is, I'd rather use impaling thrust.

2. How long it takes to get it. To be honest I can get over how much content I'll play through without my builds main weapon, provided that using it won't mark me for death.

Edit: I also forget to ask how people think of their random co-op partners using it. I've seen people quit because I used Rot breath on the Dragontree Sentinel outside Leyndel on my first run.

Who cares? If you like the weapon and its weapon art, pile those corpses away. Anyone who gets salty about it needs therapy anyway.

Rivers of Blood is still quite decent, it has been nerfed in the past, but it retains the unique power that can help you beat the whole game.
But regardless of that: Nobody can tell you what weapon to use or not to use.
Go for it, have as much fun with it as you want, it is your decision to make, and nobody can veto it!
And if you need one dropped to play the game start-to-finish with it, surely somebody can help you with that, if you ask nicely.

Thanks or all the responses, I've just always held off on bleed builds despite it probably being my best chance at creating a dexterous character that isn't throwing lightning around, or chipping away at enemies. That and I've always been disappointed in Pyrmomancers in Elden Ring, unless they were using Black Flame. So this'll actually allow me to play the quick character that I've always wanted to.

Yeah there probably is, but what journey isn't complete without struggle. Like Bilbo to the One Ring and Sting, I'll just keep on fighting till I get it.

Bleed & Rivers by extension will always be good. Percentage based health damage is insane & only gets better the more NG+ runs you do. As far as pvp goes mix up your moveset the worst thing you can be in pvp is predictable. The weapon art is also good at roll catching I've found.

Arcane builds have a load of weapons & spells to play with I'm sure it'll be fun no matter how long you take to get Rivers. As for what other people think, screw them have fun with whatever you like I'm very much in the don't kink shame school of thought, if the game is too easy alter your playstyle or don't, the point is to have fun.

If you find Rivers lacking I'd recommend the Nagakiba with occult infusion its length is almost the same as rivers weapon art lol.
