DLC possible theory (possible spoilers)
I noticed that we pledge our service to Kennith but he never makes you a knight, giving some excuse about having no ruler.. but then Nepheli becomes ruler and Kennith just avoids the subject of knighthood but also leaves the dialogue open to something happening in the future.. Could this have something to do with the incoming dlc? He has a odd demeanor and based on his intro conversation, doesn't have much respect for us. He also says something along the lines of sharing power with Nepheli but only temporarily which sounds suspect to me. Also, we had a dialogue option to pledge our service to him but it never goes anywhere.
Why would that even be a mechanic when in the final quest conversations only Nepheli rewards us, not Kennith, so why did we have an option to pledge our service to him unless it's going to be continued somehow? I don't trust the guy.

That's part of the Tencent mobile game: "Kenneth Haight: Attorney at law."

I have a theory that the DLC will be a pendant.

Kenneth's a good dude. He's a bit racist, but he's alright.

I've heard that originally there was going to be a questline where you had to choose between Gostoc or Kenneth as the next ruler of Limgrave, and that in their rush to finish the game they ended up scrapping the quest and shoving Nepheli into the role. That's part of why it seems to come out of nowhere.

Nothing I've heard about the DLC indicates it will have anything to do with Kenneth. I think it's unlikely Kenneth will be involved in any DLC. His questline is tied to Nepheli's, and it's possible to ruin Nepheli's quest by giving her Seluvis's potion. I don't think From has ever locked DLC access behind a quest that is possible to fail. Kenneth can also be killed, which would naturally fail his quest.

Since the quest feels broken and is overall the worst in the game it might be changed with the DLC. Maybe they rework basic stuff too - who knows what they did all this two long years...

I don't think they typically change much of the base game with DLCs, but... They've spent so long working on it that I find myself skeptical that it was all for DLC content. People have done calculations based on development time and size of past DLCs and are saying the ER DLC will be huge, but I don't think it will be as big as they're saying.

There's a lot of roughness to the base game, and while I don't think they'll change too much it actually would make a lot of sense if at least some of that dev time was spent refining the base game. This would especially make sense if the DLC is introducing new mechanics or new elements that would require reworking some things in order to fit them into the base game anyway. For example, if they add a new affinity they may rework certain existing ashes of war to use that new affinity instead of their current one.

The most convincing theorizing I've heard is that the DLC will be Miquella-centric. Which makes sense, Miquella is tied to all kinds of plot threads that never get resolved, and is closely connected to the Sleep status, which... y'all know how well Sleep is integrated.

Yes, the one promotional image they've released shows Miquella riding Torrent through a field full of gravestones and spirits, with two large trees in the background, one straight and the other curled around it. The leading speculation is that the DLC will have something to do with Miquella, the spirit world, and death root.

We know that Miquella was attempting some sort of plan to grant Godwyn true death, and this plan involved an eclipse. Honestly, Miquella seems to have so many plots going on that there could be a lot of seemingly unrelated things coming together in the DLC. I'm still not sure if Miquella is a hero or a villain, but I'm sure we'll find out. It would certainly be refreshing to meet a demigod who is genuinely a good person trying to make things better in the world, but there's been a lot of hints that Miquella is a manipulative bastard who is playing everyone for his own enigmatic purposes.

If there's a second DLC sometime in the future, I suspect it will involve going to the moon to recover Ranni's great rune. There's a lot of cool things that could be explored there.
