Bad game desgin or bad players
I have been versing the Tree scelant at level 9 for the last two hours and i swar to god he has attacks i can't ether dodge or honestly make no sense in what's hitting me. This was the same Issue i had when i was playing my priest character ecempt this time i decided i wanted to try playing as a Vagerbon because i messed up my items and my build to much and i want to try what i was told to be good starting class. Currently i have the defualt halabirt the class starts with.

i have noticed yes if i walk/run/roll to his right I.E. where the shield is I'm safe against his axe but doing this means I'm wide open for the horse head but that as far as i can tell is almost instant damage. I.E not big wind up to tell me that's the attack and if i get hit by the head butt I'm almost 80% of the time dead to second attack.

Then after i get him to half health and he start's using that stupid shield I know for the basic shield slam i have to dodge to the left or be far enough away from it. But then the issue is with the big Jump slam. I roll to the left and die, i roll to the right and die, i roll into him and Die, i roll back of him and die. WTF is that. then even at full health if i get hit with this attack im dead because by the time i stand up and and can move i just get hit by another move.

At this point it's starting to feel like the Tree Scentanl just has moves that can not be blocked or evaded and the fight has little to do with my skill and more if the RNG decides he will spam the two attacks i can roll out of or he rapidly spams the attack i can't.

all ya gotta do is avoid his attacks by timing your rolls to his attacks then also hitting him with your own, repeat the process and you'll win believe it or not it works on every boss. except maybe the fallingstar beast in that tiny cave and Malteasers Goose disco attack

Hands down the best smelling open world boss! 🤣

My skill in a game that has allowed me to get to past the Fire Gaint. I only ever got better at running away because I never had the damage the you tub people show of one shot builds and those builds always require items you get in end games. Shard of Alexander comes to mind.
I finished my first run using the weapons:
Wretch base club
Longsword
Great Axe
Golden Halberd
and I went wiht the Golden Halberd all the way to the end off the game and beating all optional bosses, no "1 shot damage" needed (tho the Golden Halberd damage is high it is far from "1 shot build")

Learn to take your time, dodge "into the enemies" not away and learn to dont overdo neither try to engage at "every opening" and you will do fine.

and it prevents you from getting past the Tree Scentinel.

To accomplish what you're trying to do, you simply need to get better, that's all there is to it.

I am not a good Gamer XD i am Past my Prime and smoked up my Reflexes :er_sad:
But i can say im not Bad at Elden Schlong :er_heart:
I did a no Hit Run and needed 15 tries for it allways geting hit by Malerki Dog :er_sad:
But now when i play him it looks like Malerki has an anorism :er_wave:

So how about you try this, next time you feel the need to write something like this you realy Try to put a Finger in your Hole. And for the Game, follow the Words of the Acients and git good :er_wave::er_wave::er_heart:

How many times did you fight tree sentinels in your level 150 playthrough?

If you ignored all of them, because you can except 1 then its not surprising the one at the start is wrecking you

You will get better by playing through the game, but alot of the tougher fights come down to memorizing or atleast getting a feel for all the moves an enemy can throw at you

So that tree sentinel at the start of the game will give you a hard time if you never really fought them before

I've played 800 hours, I've fought like 7 death birds total in that time so naturally they beat my ass a lot whenever I attempt them

I would also like to mention since I did read the thread, there are 4 incantation weapon buffs, black flame blade, poison armament, blood flame blade and electrify armament

Blackflame blade lasts 7 seconds (rip)
Poison Armament lasts 60 seconds
Bloodflame lasts 60 seconds and gives you bleed buildup
Electrify armament lasts 90 seconds and is honestly probs the best weapon buff

Not sure ( i got lucky and pick Samurai so i learned from second one to just DPS spam through) but their a quite a few latter mobs that have very confusing dodging requirements. Soft seemed to think that they need explicit jump doges in the game, but its not very clearly most of the time. Some mobs have effect that radiate out of the ground but don't count for the hit(thus making jumping a doge), but others the effects count a a hit, other attacks you jump to doge and wont get hit when the attack clearly hits your geometry . Its rather inconsistent.

Sound like soft is intending to hand hold you though the fight and mandate you use the explicit intended doge, but due to their lack of logic on what counts a hit and whats just an effect you not keeping a firm grip on the dev hand.

I dodge all these with dodge (iframes, jump dont have iframes) and the only hits I get are hits like "poison/rot ticking"
