Ranni/ seluvius questline

Im trying to do all the quests in one playthrough. there's a guide i m following which states:
"North of the Altus Highway Junction, grab the Amber Starlight for Seluvis. Then, return to Seluvis. Follow his instructions (this will require "attoning" at the Church of Vows afterwards). Then, return to Seluvis and Pidia."

Am I understanding correctly that he wants me to give to scorpion charm to ranni then atone for my sins and her quest wont be broken again right? (giving her the charm breaks her quest apparently)

The Magic Scorpion Charm has nothing to do with Ranni. You get this talisman after doing the first part of Seluvis' quest, when you gave his first potion to either Nepheli or Dung Eather. ( I recommend to give it to Dung Eater)
Then Seluvis will give you another task and brew another potion. He'll ask you to give this potion to Ranni. Personally I wouldn't do this, there isn't any good outcome about it.

I just gave him the amber shard, grabbed the magic scorpion (its excellent) and left it at that. Asked a while back if I actually needed the amber potion for anything if I wasn't going against Ranni and the answer seemed no so i figured better not to have in my inventory. Knowing me I'd have prob given it to her by accident. Had no problems finishing Ranni's quest then.

There is no point in giving Ranni this potion other than hearing additional dialogue from Ranni and turtle pope (this one is unlocked by using dew for any reason, isnt tied to Ranni specifically)
