for ER or from games in general, a jolly coop its always a way, buut proably you need to tell the cooperator just cover just back or you dont want to instakill the boss like with some build, also some players can give you some items and runes for boost the frist levels,

for games the first soulslike i advice is code vein, maybe its the best for introduction to the gender have minimap, map, some ui devilmycry sttle you maybe are more familirse buut have all the mechanic of one souls game you dont need to lvl up for real is better if you dont level up your characters just the equipment, also a story easy to undestands but dark, multople finals, its a good game for start souls-like

Actually I finished my NG + 4 as a bleed samurai, then started a new game as a mage, now I'm going for a faith build. Got all achievements xD
The game is really good and I love it would love to see it as a GOTY

I wouldn't think you need to do other games first. At least i didn't. I've been a lifelong gamer from the 80s so I am used to difficult games with no handholding. I hadn't gamed much since 2017 and last year i gamed as much as a career regarding hours. Elden Ring and Sifu were both brand new to me last year and I never heard of souls games as a genre but knew of dark souls but just didn't play it.

My first play through took a long time and for good reason. Since I'm older, i don't have any inclination or desire to go look up videos or guides early game at all. I did however look up no spoiler early game mechanics as I had no idea what any of the classes were or what even the messages on the ground were. It was information overload. That didn't stop me from enjoying it early on though.

Around the 10 hour mark I started to get a feeling this game is gonna be special. And it progressively got better all through and including the DLC. I looked up a few things to progress to some areas in the game that if I hadn't, I probably still would be struggling 400 hours in. That part is important. So many people say they don't look up anything but the average time to beat the game from a completionst point is ridiculously low. It would be like running into the most obscure areas with perfect timing and then knowing where to go and when. It's so crazy. The streamers all have the dlc beat and every item so early on but it's because they all use the same walk through and just fake their reactions and surprise.

Anyway, the reason to play this game over others is it's an amalgamation of all fromsoft games and therefore is the easiest to the hardest based on how you decide to play. Sekiro isn't harder, it's just focused. But if you don't love that focus, then it's not gonna be the best experience. ER allows you to level, get help using summons, learn rhythm patterns like sekiro or parry and deflect, roll and or just enjoy a power fantasy. The exploration and and builds are amazing. Just buy it.

I'd skip Dark Souls 2 for obvious reasons, I'd particularly leave it for last.
I would not skip DS2, nor would I pay any mind to the prodigious amount of slander directed towards it. It was a game with a troubled development and came out with its share of quirks, but it's a great game regardless. While DS3 likes to downplay DS2's existence, the lore of DS2 still has a profound impact on the story of DS3. The DLCs are also quite good.
I skipped DS2 (and tried to force myself through it twice), no challenge and 80% of it (at least half of it) is bad to terrible areas and bosses.
I only pay any attention to any lore after 1st playthrough and dont use guides either but I got lost twice on around the same spot and could not be bothered to play it more.

DS3 is amazing and DS3 shows DS2 existence too "if you really pay attention", there is even a whole area but destroyed there.
