Dragon Halberd and Stormhawk Axe

Is there a way to escape the ash of war on these weapons during PVP? At level 25 online play I cant survive these, even when using boiled crab and opaline hard tear. I'm hyper aware when ever anyone pulls one of these out. Anyone got any tips on how to deal with these weapons? (Besides "don't get hit" obviously)

I guess playing more passively, its common for people that use these to look for trades.

get a better poise armor, using full knight set you should can roll out of it at some point. you will get initial poise break animation when it hit you, when the stagger animation done, roll out of it.

their aow deals lightning damage if thats any help.

Annoy them with chip damage and free aim Kobe pots or goad them into trades. Even if you don't kill them, resources are finite unless you got one of those hosts that will re summon their boyfriends.

Use shields. This allows you to block the initial hit and gives you the opportunity to roll away.

I just breath on them or explode them with golem greatarrows before they even have a chance to press L2

unless they have very high poise, you can break stormhawk with UGS, jump attacks especially. you can also outspace and punish with long pokes, like spear or halberd, or you can fire a projectile like storm blade on reaction.
