Main menu bug: cannot move the selection at all

So recently I've been experiencing a bug with the game. Just after launch there is no problem, I load a character and start sending my summon sign since I enjoy doing coop. But after some time if I open the main menu I cannot move the selection at all, it's simply fixed on the equipment option, the d-pad seems to not work at all specifically on the start menu, on the main screen I can cycle the items, weapons and spells without issue using the D-pad. I've tried using keyboard and mouse and the problem still happens. Any idea what might be triggering this bug? I can provide extra info is needed, I just want to fix this because otherwise the game will be unplayable. It also really irks me that this starts happening now even tho I got over 1,5k hours played. Thanks for any help.

Oh wow, that actually made me able to move the selection but only while holding shift. Do you know any way to restore the normal function of the d-pad before the triggering of the bug?
