PVP voices?
So with the risk of getting ridiculed I still make this topic lol.

So I've been doing a lot of pvp lately and I swear I sometimes hear voices very faintly coming from my tv, like a surprised: well done or (uncensored) gosh darnit. Very rare but I honestly do hear people say stuff sometimes.

Anyone know how that's possible?
I swear I'm not going crazy.

There are Prattling Pates which are Wood Carvings from Dark Souls Series. You use them like an item and they can have special Dialogue with NPCs and just be funny towards other players "HELP ME!" "I'M SORRY!" "YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL!". You character does make voices. There's like 6 of them for male and 6 for female. Some emotes makes them say things. Like waving will make your character say something. There is voice chat. I don't know if other players can hear the enemy team though but it does work in coop.

Yeah I know about the Pates haha.
But I swear I hear real voices, very faintly.

I didn't know there's voice chat, so that could be it?

Yeah, on release before the patches I used to swear I could hear the same thing. Put in down to some kind of crosstalk.

What is this schizo thread? The game doesn't have access to your microphone, if it did request the access, it would show in the windows settings. So how would others be able to speak?

Bruh, literally go to the network tab in the settings menu and it says Voice Chat.

Not for me though, I believe pc users don't have that.
And cross platform isn't a thing as far as I tought...

Dang, I play on Console. Did Dark Souls 2 and 3 have voice chat on PC then?

It’s true, I toppled this one invader and I could’ve sworn I heard someone asking me about my extended car warranty

To add unfortunate speculation to this; whenever I have an invader present in my world, I can see the toggle for Windows Mic Access is visible in my taskbar since I play windowed. It is marked as Steam making the access though. It probably just auto toggles based on the connection to another player.

Dark Souls II and III, did have voice chat if it was enabled by both players through the settings menu. This was limited to coop/summoned sessions with friendly summons. You would have a little icon next your name with a icon of a shouting head. it wasn't reliable at all and didn't really seem to work, and wasn't present during invasions regardless of host setting.

If you played DaS3 arena PVP, you would from time to time hear a mic register from the connection of your partner, but it terminated almost immediately.

It's quite possible leftover fragments of this are baked in code somewhere. Wouldn't be surprised at all if it becomes an added during DLC launch/updates.

Thank you. All I needed was some evidence to show me I'm not crazy. Now I can finally be at peace xD
