I DO believe in his extraordinary wisdom. Multiplayer is this what keeps the game alive. I think that FROM SOFTWARE unnecessarily complicated this game with their own "technology-thought".
Look at all reviews, even in Lords of the fallen they have doubts about seamless coop. It does not make sense. We have 2024, fast internet and many players just expect to have fun with friends in their favourite games.
Better luck for the next game, Elden Ring is nice enough as it is.
"Nothing will change" = The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ will always go on. I can see less and less people play online in the future games.
Just look at how MP is now discouraged in the past games, as noboby but the sweatiest "veterans" play online.
The skill disparity among the "true casual gamers" and "veterans" is so high the firsts have no chance to compete against the remnants of the hardcore players.
Whenever i see someone say "MP keeps these games alive" i see nothing but "we have 1k players playing with each other; others simply don't bother trying".
ER's multiplayer is destined to fall dead once a new game will pop up. and the cycle (of perpetual dissatisfaction with From's stale MP design) will continue.
Its simply much better than completely outdated original ER multiplayer
I liked my world being open to invasions so I used the taunter's tongue a lot.
Multiplayer was folded into the games' lore,. You're summoning or being invaded by other tarnished through the multiverse. Even the language of invading worlds implies this.
Being a multiverse, there are various insane, benevolent, helpful, deceitful and hostile iterations of the tarnished that also walk between worlds.
However... I also enjoy the seamless coop mod.
I like it's additional features and lowered restrictions to coop, and also because all the craven players use the mod for it's downside, it lowers the number of alt-f4ing hosts when invading.
Plenty still quit when you kill their summon first though.
...and we, likewise, expect you to have at least a passing familiarity with the design philosophy of the Souls games in 2023.
See how stupid that "it's year XXXX" garbage is without context?
No?
Didn't think you would.
