Don't be discouraged to try seamless. It's easily been the most fun I've had with the game. If you don't like it, you don't even need to uninstall. It comes with a separate launcher and separate save files.
Yeah, two summons, a host, and an invader. That'll open up a slot for a second invader every so often.
There aren't that many bad invaders. Vanilla coop is perfectly playable and in fact incredibly fun, it's just not a "play the entire game with a second person" mode.
