RTX 3060 laptop low fps
Hi, everyone,
I have ASUS M16 rog zephyrus with intel i7-12700H cpu, 40GB RAM DDR5 4800 MHZ and RTX 3060. I am using Turbo mode for better performance. I switched off ray tracing and lowered resolution to 1920:1080 although my computer supports 2K. I get 60 fps when I simply roam, but the game stutters and ranges from 20 to 45 fps during fights. Is it expected or can I fix it?

Yes you could, buy you are not and you didn't. References? Links? You have not questioned the test results I posted either. I never said any such solution has been found in stuttering, I am simply saying I don't experience it on my laptop of Win 11, 13700h, rtx 4060, 16 gb ram 5800 mhz. I'm not advocating disabling or enabling e-cores so no need to be snarky. You dismiss other possibilities out of hand without knowing details of OP system so clearly you advocated for disabling them. As far as I can see, it may or may not resolve the problem OP has. The youtuber could make money just as easily posting results that favour disabling e-cores so money is not the issue here. As stated above, there are plenty who who point to e-cores being problematic as there are claiming they are not. If I were still experiencing problems I would consider disabling them, but only as a last resort because I don't know where negative effects may be otherwise. I don't have time to determine how every app is coded before using it.

believe what you want, e cores are BS tricking dumb ppl to buy BS. as i said i could tell you why but i do not need to explain anything to everyone.

That's fine, but without providing any supporting data you will excuse me if I don't just take your word for it. You can always go with AMD since they don't use e-cores and their cores are generally more power efficient. Though I wouldn't go so far as saying they outperform Intel CPUs.

It's running poorly for many people with Ryzen's as well. Stop going by what the resident know nothing is saying here.

And nobody should be disabling cores for any specific game.

Thanks everyone for answer. I am using windows 11 latest update. I disabled all e-cores (hyper threading remains enabled) in bios. Auto rendering is off in game settings (tried with on, made it worse). I tried with Mux switch on and off. Resolution is 1920:1080 and quality is high, Ray tracing off. I initially got 60 fps and it did not decrease during fights. However, after playing 10-15 minutes, fps dropped to 25-35, again stuttering. Same story in every run . To get back above 40-50 fps, I have to reduce quality to low. It really sucks since my laptop was supposed to be one of high tier gaming laptops when this game was out. I think the game is badly optimized, but also hope there is a solution somewhere

It's the recent game update, it's not your hardware. Happening on my PC after the game ran at a steady 60fps other than forested areas with heavy rain and the poison mist (which I think about everyone got dips with). Ever since the update, I get frequent FPS drops.

Nothing to be done about it unless Fromsoftware fixes it..

You may find a future patch resolves the stutter. I initially had no problems until a short while ago. I lowered settings despite the fact it was running ok before. Now it's running better but I still have to play on lower settings. Today's high end rig quickly becomes mid-range but you should be ok for awhile yet. I recommend restoring e-cores as it may negatively impact other apps and especially since win 11 utilizes them. For reference my setup is above and running on medium settings mostly. Tbh, I don't see any difference visually between high and medium. Perhaps if viewed side by side it would be more apparent.

Medium settings hits grass/vegetation hard. It also causes shadow flickering even more on trees. This game should be fully playable at 60fps at 1080p with decent to good hardware.

Even Dark Souls 3 has had stuttering introduced with it's latest patch since the servers came back for PC. I don't know what the hell Fromsoftware is doing tech side, but they need to bring in a new team for that because who they have now is just not doing a good job.

My Testsystem with a fx8350 CPU rund this game with similar FPS but no stutters , if the problem reappeared there are additional things to check it is not normal that this happen, check the Windows event viewer for constant logging and for a bios update for examble.
its most likely got nothin to do wit ur cpu. theres been a recent driver update that apparently makes performance worse in elden ring for nvidia.

i dont auto update drivers so im good. u mite wanna roll bak to an earlier driver to see if it helps.
Update: I solved the issue by adding new thermal paste to Cpu and GPU. My laptop is a few months older than a year. When I described the issue in my latest comment, the idea about overheating hit me, now it runs at 60 fps, no stutter, in high quality full HD.

Glad to hear you fixed. Sounds like you’re just outside of warranty. I would let asus know of your experiences.
