ELDEN RING
"Git Gud" huh? As if...
You know as well as I that some people cannot "Git Gud" no matter what. Because well scrubs are pretty much brain dead. And you mocking them is like mocking a person with no legs that they will never win a marathon. Like duh.

As an example I will use "Tomb Raider: Legend" - ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game I know but it's the game that made me realise how bad at games scrubs actually are.
You see back in the day I had a few scrubs who admired my skill at video games and they were very impressed by the fact I beat the game while they couldn't. But why couldn't they?
Well near the end of the game you obtain the legendary sword Excalibur and you bring it as your alternate weapon for the final mission, where you fight a lady and her henchmen and finally a monster she controls as a final boss. So my scrub fans couldn't beat the boss because they used the default pistols which cannot damage the boss instead of Excalibur. Yes scrubs are that stupid, they cannot think of swapping their weapon without someone telling them. But that's just pitiful, it's simply not worthy of mockery.

This is exactly why they want an easy mode instead of going to play something that is in their league. And they do it because they are stupid.
With that said they aren't entirely wrong. Because we all know that every game is hardest when you play it for the first time. Even if it's not a difficult one you are bound to make mistakes. So there is nothing wrong with making the first playthrough on a lower difficulty and then move on to the big leagues.
And that is what really the whole difficulty of FromSoftware games comes down to. They just throw us into the big leagues from the get go and tell us to deal with it or go play something else.
However, it is also true that the scrubs will never opt to play on higher difficulty settings. But that also means that we don't really need to play FromSoftware games to be better than them, we will always be.

So what I'm saying is just give it a rest, the scrubs will never "Git Gud" and FromSoftware will never give us an easy mode. I say we ignore them instead, it's a win-win situation, as we won't look like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and they wont get any validation to their stupid opinions.

Then I have also seen female students who are only taking courses in a STEM field because their parents were bombarded with crap from their school, counselors, public service announcements, etc. so they were basically forced into it. That first group are an asset wherever they go, but that second group are the kind of people who get hired to balance numbers on an HR spreadsheet somewhere. They are not the same.
I don't really want to get involved in this topic, but I wanted to comment on this part. It might be a cultural thing, but it seems to me that contrary to what you write here, starting from a very young age, women are bombarded by the message that they are bad at math/ science/ engineering and that it's kind of sweet to be bad at these subjects, that being pretty is very important and that having a husband and children is essential for a woman's well-being. That schools, counselors etc. sometimes try to break these clichees and encourage a different approach is a good thing.

Don't expect much here; you're a saint for engaging, but dude has demonstrated pretty clearly that he just elides any information that is inconvenient to his preferred version of reality.

You need to work on that text analysis, dear. Here, let me help. I will underline the important bits for you.

Even if you included some first hand experience, you also included 2nd had experience directly after saying that including 2nd had experience was a bad look.

Hope this helps, both with the conversation and with your "text analysis career." Peace.

I said relying on secondhand experience was a bad look. Relying being the key word--which, given my firsthand experience, I am not. Supplementing firsthand knowledge with outside experiences obviates anecdotal bias, but it doesn't invalidate the firsthand experience.

Thanks for the career advice, but given your demonstrated faculty with my professional skillset, I think I'll pass.
Sorry, sport, but “relying on” and “relying only on” are not the same thing. You would think that a supposed text analyst would know this, especially one who claims to only go with what is written.

I really don't know how this can be read positively or defended. The actual statements in there are:

- women are not interested in things like engineering at all
- men are better at such professions
- inclusion quotas are unfair vs. men (do such even exist for "tech jobs" in general??)
- enforcing that women get such jobs will lead to the end of western civilization

No deeper text comprehension or analysis skills needed imho - this is what the guy said.
Because hyperbole and context exist.

They exist, but not in the section I quoted. The only hyperbole I can see here is "the end of civilization", but this just stands for "it's bad for our country" which is not in any way redeeming. Apart from that these are indeed the guy's statements. It is not our job to try and interpret them away. It would be his job to phrase things differently if he wanted to express something less problematic. But... you know... he didn't - this is exactly what he wanted to say. You trying to defend all this is quite weird and unnecessary.

ah, but you've just activated my analogy trap card. in this case, pepsi is referencing bleed builds, while sprite is representative of dex/faith builds.

reading comprehension, fin! you need to *know what i'm saying before I even say it*

Right. And you're relying only on secondhand experience, whereas I am not. I'm glad you understand the distinction; now see your bursar for a refund on your ENGL coursework, because you were done dirty.

If you say “I am right because ‘A, B, and C’” then you are still relying on “B” and “C” as well as “A”. No amount of whining will change that.

The internet happened....when i was young we used to dicuss the mundane topics drunk as ducks FACE TO FACE at the pub.

Those were the days.....furniture and people flying around the place in case of disagreement...now we get WALLS of text. I was of course talking about Limgrave pub.....in Elden Ring.

The good thing about back then was that the village simpletons didn't have the means to all find each other ;)

I'm adding A, which you lack, and which grants greater credence to my claims--especially given that your own have been in large part inaccurate because you lack, wait for it, A.

Nobody's whining, dude. It's just funny watching you contort yourself into a giant pretzel of "nuh uh" to avoid facing the fact that you talked out of your backside and got called on it.

But we're accomplishing nothing here; you'll continue to double and triple-down on your goofiness to avoid whatever blow your ego might suffer from getting too far out over your skis, we'll continue to gum up the thread, so I'm good with allowing our posts to speak for themselves.
