I recently upgraded my entire PC, but the game worked for about 30 minutes. I played it briefly a few days ago. During that time i did enable the ray tracing graphics settings and the game played fine. I stopped playing normally and ever since then every time i launch the game all i get is the white/black screen and the title page wont even load.
The only other thing i did was transfer which hard drive the game was installed on. I originally had the game installed on an old SSD plugged in through SATA. I transferred the install to my new PCIe SSD to have it properly utilize my GPU and other things. I have since uninstalled and re-installed the game properly on the new SSD instead of just transferring the game from one drive to the other but that hasn't fixed anything either.
than we have to check the windows event logs for the crash cause.
and yes discord can cause this too.
add me than we can communicate directly, this is faster.
Disabled Discord, Steam and Xbox Game Bar overlays
Disabled Xbox Game Bar in general
Installed latest versions of both the bios and gpu drivers
Looked into the Event Viewer logs during a game crash
Summary: issue likely due to windows 11 bug with secure memory allocation and dx12.
If I baby the launch of the game now, it'll hang 4-5 times. If i tell it to 'wait' each time, the game will eventually launch successfully after 5-10 minutes. Once launched, the game seems to run fine. It is extremely frustrating but at least it works for now.
Solution: likely have to wait for either a Microsoft Windows 11 update, a GPU driver update, an Elden Ring game update or likely a combination of all 3 to address the root causes of this problem.
