Which non-unique greatsword is your favorite?
This is probably my favorite weapon class. A lot of them have similar minimum attribute requirements and weights.

Which one(s) is your go to and why?
  • Bastard Sword
  • Claymore
  • Iron Greatsword
  • Lordsworn's Greatsword
  • Knight's Greatsword
  • Banished Knight's Greatsword
  • Forked Greatsword
  • Flamberge
And I realize there might be some old school Claymore loyalists because...reasons.

Knight's greatsword. Easy to get requirement. Really decent dmg/weight ratio. And boy that look. It's perfect

Flamberge. I just like how it looks and it has innate bleed

I use it on arcane builds with sword dance as the ash of war. Pretty fun.

Lightning infusion with a dex build is probably good as well but haven't tried yet.

I forgot that it gets an A scaling with Keen. Good stuff.

Banished Knight's Greatsword.

Monstrous damage.

Uses the alternate greatsword moveset when 2-handed.

Scabbard looks cool.

I don't think I have any particular reason for it, but I do like the Flamberge. Some positives I can think of are that it's fairly light, has good reach, and it looks nice. The bleed buildup doesn't really matter that much but it can be a nice surprise when it procs. Would probably recommend it for a melee magic hybrid build, but there are tons of other greatswords that scale with int or faith out of the box.

Banished Knight's Greatsword because it requires no DEX investment to be wielded by a Hero and it has the best STR scaling out of the three "fancy" greatswords.

EDIT: formatting

It's good for an arcane build with hybrid melee/magic because of the bleed. You give it occult infusion and use the dragon communion seal which also scales with arcane

usually Bastard sword (not a great sword technically speaking xD) , claymore and or knight great sword. All really depends on my mood or look im going for.

Banished Knight's Greatsword, since it's one of the few greatswords that does that cool (realistic?) moveset.

Exactly why my hero is using one!

Claymore for the R2. I don't like any of the strong attacks on other greatswords. I wish the stab was the default; getting two kinds of damage on one weapon is a lotta fun, and it gets you thinking about how to use your whole moveset.

The dragonslayer.

Bastard has been my favorite through Dark Souls, and I cling to it still in ER on certain builds.
It is noticably shorter than the others, but I like the wide cleave and stomp over the cheesy poke of the claymore/other GS's.
