Performance drop
Is it me or did the performance drop even harder with 1.09?
For some reason I have horrible stutters now, don't remember having them that much before 1.09 (raytracing is off).

Hell, game ran better on my older 2070 than it does on my 3080.. only Elden Ring does that.

No difference here.

Using Windows 11, this seems to work for me to avoid some stuttering:
- Open Device Manager, Software Devices and disable "Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator".

I also had frequent crashes to desktop related to insufficient virtual memory, which I fixed by opening the Virtual Memory settings, selecting "system managed size" and restarting the system. As it turns out, the manual pagefile setting I had before didn't improve things, but actually made them worse, so I just leave it to "system managed" for now.

Also, for those NVIDIA users who can't even start the game after 1.09, make sure to update your drivers to 531.41 at least.

Same here! Had 60 FPS most of the time, but with the stutters every dozen of seconds. Found this:

and in my case disabling "Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator" fixed the problem (2:10) :praisesun:

Used both fixes - disabled Control Flow Guard for Elden Ring and Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator; game runs much smoother now, with little stutter from time to time.

Thank you all :)

Well nevermind that, after 10 minutes it goes back into stutter-mode, seems like shader pre-loading issue.

When I installed the new patch ray-tracing was turned on automatically. Make sure its checked off in the graphics menu

In some areas game stutters even on i5-13600K 16GB CL16 3600Mhz Samsung 980 and RTX 4080. I think it has to do with From Softwares approach which involves loading new location when you are entering very specific spots and suddenly game wants to load 10+GB of new data in split second. I heard that peoples played DS3 with 24GB and it kept happening because game wont preload area earlier but only split second before its data is required. Ive heard that only thing which can help a little is to have very high speed of Ram and SSD as capacity of your ram wont help as games from FroM Software dont preload areas preemptively even if you have lots of spare ram.

What areas? I like to collect such difficult spots and occasionally record a simple benchmark videos.

First try verify game files. Then, Could be your driver. You may need to do a clean install of your driver using ddu.
I did this and it helped with my 6750xt. Now it runs quite smooth. Your 3080 should run this game far better than a 2070 and you should not except bad fps. Here's a tip but I'll put it coded: set heap cash-launch options.....do it. google it.
