I really dislike how unnecessarily big the world is.
Most of the time, I feel like I'm just riding on Torrent and playing a horse simulator lol...I mean, I love the actual fighting part of the game, seeing how I've completed the game a million times already. I just beat the Elden Beast again, went to demolish Mogh with two +10 colossal hammers, and then I thought about going to beat Malenia again...My first thought was that I actually did not want to go through all the walking again...I beat her twice before, and it was very fun when I actually got to fight her. But the thought of spending like two hours walking/riding there...like unlocking the Haligtree and whatnot...It's just not fun. I don't ever remember Dark Souls 3 giving me the same vibe. Even journeying to fight Gael was full of fun encounters. This game is advertised as "open world", but I think in fact, it's just a normal DS game stretched out unnecessarily. Like do we really NEED a toxic swamp full of giant crabs? Or a massive frozen wasteland where you can't see where you're going for 10 minutes straight? DS3 was actually 100% on foot, and yet I didn't feel bored at all the entire time. Actually, I'm going to go play some more DS3. See you, guys.

they sacrificed gameplay for scale

I think it's fine for the first playthrough but it can get very boring if you replay it

Alright, beat the game 40 times now (NG+39) and to keep it interesting i kill the max level bosses with friends!

You can also do amazing things if you have imagination and bother developing your character

Very true. I still remember that the first playthrough was super exciting, but it fizzled out pretty quickly after a few more runs. Now I'm coming back to it after a year or so, I get the same old tired feeling after beating it just once more. I don't ever recall feeling this way about DS3, which I play over the years every now and then.

Playing the game with an open mind and experimenting with the insane amount of things your character can do. But of course if you are tired of the game already you are going to lack the motivation to get to that point.

Now this one recorded today. Before killing the commander Oneill with friends i stumbled upon that horde of zombies.
They wanted to hug me...feel some "tarnished" contact but then i decided to make bolognese sauce instead.

Voila.....just little things but all together make Elden Ring amazing. IF you want the game to be amazing thats it.

That one is...eh, way less interesting than the first one, tbh.

I had just invaded someone at Siofra River, used the Furled Finger Trick Mirror to not drag that much attention and be able to near unoticed.
At distance I saw a helper glowing (very smart to not use the mirror, thank you) and saw a Snow Witch had at distance, stopped at the highest point (smart again, showing clearly his position and being visible from everywhere).

I then played some Solid Snake on this glowing sentry looking around always to see if no one else was wandering looking for me, to what I saw the helper acting as a sentry and moving a little bit around, I found the host but also I read that other invader had invaded, I waited a bit and heard "magic sounds" and some sword sounds too, right after the host killed the other invader I went for it full charge, neither host or the sentry saw me coming, 2 jump attacks and host was dead, just after the first attack that the sentry decided to throw spells at me but it was too late.
It was a game of hunter x hunter there and the basic mistake they made was showing up like a sentry beacon.

I like big, vast games. What I hate about ER is how unnecessarily difficult it is to get to a given point on the map.
Aertes May 6, 2023 @ 11:43pm
I like the sceneries and views, I often stop at the clifss to see what can be seen from there, also the sky and changing weather. If you only want to kill kill I understand you don't stop ad watch the visual work. And its true that after a few games you start to find the enemies scarce. I dont think the game is too big, but that a "more enemies" option would be good.
Simbolic May 7, 2023 @ 1:31am
So after replaying it 10 times over you now came to the conclusion. That you hate how the world was developed?
königplatzen May 7, 2023 @ 1:48am
I really LIKE how unnecessarily big the world is.

Imagine this map in real life. How big is it really?

I loved unnecessary large worlds but then I played Assassins Creed Brotherhood.. Now I hate them. I don't think a smaller world would help though. All the issues present would remain unless the game was more like DS1,DS3,BB etc
vamirez May 7, 2023 @ 2:56am
It's great that the world is so big - and there's stuff to do everywhere. If you just ride past everything that's self-inflicted. But in OP's case it may be related to replaying the game ten times and then ofc skipping a lot. That's not really an issue of a given game tho.

I sincerely respect your opinion but... how can someone who has only played 24 hours have such a negative opinion of Elden Ring oh my Elden Ring?

The best of all is to mention all the other souls to make it look more "pretty".. why? I am really extremely interested in knowing how someone can love the previous installments of the franchise so much and despise Elden Ring.

In any case, bless you and thanks in advance for answering, Im just looking to shed some light on this recurring question, not a discussion.
