Is Concealing Veil really this bad?
I've been messing with this thing, and from what I've seen, it's quite possibly the worst talisman in the whole game.

It doesn't work against scripted aggro. The 'too close' range seems to be base aggro range. And once you're 'in combat' it doesn't work at all, on anything.

Which means, ultimately, that it does nothing except put an icon on your HUD while you crouch, and use up a talisman slot.

Yea wad wondering the same, figured suppose to go invisible while crouching and gaining distance, Which is what it implies but doesn't do.

it works apparently just have to be really far and can't creep up on enemies. Guess it's mainly used to escape from enemies.

Second worst. The talisman that makes you immune to fall damage is the absolute worst. Because of how fall damage works, you basically only take fall damage if you almost died from the fall, and it's negligible (full details: you take ~25% damage if you fall more than 16 meters, but falls 20 meters or above will always kill you, and most drops in the game you're MEANT to fall down are less than 16 meters and most drops you're meant to die from is above 20).

I think the talisman is only intended for PvP, I've seen a couple invaders use it and it's surprisingly effective at throwing you off. Combine with an effect that removes footsteps and it's very hard to track them down.

Speaking of removing footsteps, the talisman that does that (Crepus' Vial) is amazing, there's still enemies that are scripted to turn around as you approach them and enemies standing guard at the only entrance to a room, but other than those cases you can just run up to enemies at full speed and backstab them as long as you don't enter their field of vision. (There's a lategame chestpiece (Black Knife Assassin set) which has the same effect if you wanna save a talisman slot but it's so late you'll basically not have any game left to use it on)

stealth items are botched in this game it's 50/50

This always struck me as a PvP only item, no clue if it does anything in PvE i honestly never thought to try.
Its good when youre invading and you are up on a cliffside or a tower with a greatbow or jar cannon. can set up your shot while invisible. Or if you get invaded one player might be able to use it hide and set up an ambush.

concealing veil is a pvp oriented item, its not supposed to have any effect in pve. was the same for its equivalent, the obscuring ring, in ds3. in ds3 obscuring ring was a covenant reward for winning 10 invasions.

Even more useless than the talisman that doubles the damage you take? Or the one that attracts enemy aggression? At least it's not objectively detrimental.

pve-wise, kinda, yeah. extra damage ring is for challenge runs(like kuros charm mechanic in sekiro), and the aggro ring is for kiting aggro in co-op. most people wont use them or have any need for them, but they do technically have a use, while afaik concealing veil is strictly pvp only and has no use at all in pve, and is essentially the same as an empty ring slot if you are playing solo.

The whole reason I started testing it was thinking I could use it like a somewhat weaker, but without the HP/FP cost, alternative for Assassin's Gambit. NOPE!
