But from what I gather it depends on the sort of sorcery you want to use most... somewhat.
Apparently you can wield the staff with the best sorcery scaling in your main hand, use a second staff with a passive boost skill in your off-hand, and benefit from both of them while firing sorceries.
Also apparently if you get two copies of the same passive buff skill, they stack ... but I'm nowhere close to NG+ so I can't get a second Staff of Loss for glorious Night Comet spam yet.
But yeah. I've got that one that uses 1.5x FP and it hits pretty hard, but I can't spam anything with it, so I'm still using Meteorite + Staff of Loss. Strong Rock Sling + Strong Night Comet. No strong Ambush Shard though... sad times.
And I've also gathered the same as you about that Regal Staff. That will probably be what I'm aiming to get hold of... but I still haven't upgraded my SoL past the MS yet.
Yeah I know different staff for different perks
But I want 1 staff that I will carry with me always. Other slots are filled with weapons and I don't want to fat roll lol
Lusat's Glintstone Staff if you like spending 50% more FP for a bit more damage.
Prince of Death's Staff if you happen to get a bad NG+ fever.
Keep in mind that staffs which give a bonus to a specific spell type don't have to be used to cast the spell. You get the bonus just by keeping the staff equipped. If you, for instance, cast Night Comet with Carian Regal Scepter while having Staff of Loss in your other hand then the spell still deals 30% more damage.
This is basically how I did the majority of my playthrough. Double-staffed. No melee armament.
