... who can't even make optimised games for consoles! Their poor 30 fps framepacing issue is something they've become infamous for and even with the more powerful PS5 and Xbox Series X they are still unable to achieve a stable 60 fps framerate. You absolutely need VRR to play any of their games on the new consoles.
Seriously, FromSoftware can design outstanding games but they really should hand over the coding duties to a developer that is more technically competent in my opinion. The dated engine they use was already held together with glue and tape so adding RT to the mix was never going to be anything other than a disaster from this developer.
I'll take "things Elden Ring didn't need" for 100, Alex
4070 owner, playing in 1440p with MAX settings.
They've been developing for PC for over a decade now and that i expected their RT-implementation to be lackluster just makes it worse.
Though, i still didn't expected it to be this little...or is it broken? It just adds some AO for ~15FPS in more open areas. It's almost like, they've just added it, so they can slap "Ray-Tracing" on every copy from now on. Maybe i'm too negative and should look at the silver lining; You're not losing anything significant, by turning what little RT there is off.
This is a FromSoftware problem. Plenty of Japanese devs have been doing a lot better in their PC versions. FromSoftware can't even make good performing console games. They just need to git gud as is said. It's a skill issue.
4080 here,and no, thats a lie. RT off = 120fps (locked). RT on max = 70-80.
It definitly makes a change.
