There are two types of poison, deadly and normal. Normal barely tickles and deadly can be considered just a bit weaker than rot.
So go enjoy some quality time in Caelid abandoned cavern and get yourself a pair of venomous fangs.
I think there was also a short blade and a katana. But i find fangs and the bow (infinite serpent arrows from a Caelid merchant) the best way to combine it with rot and apply it asap.
Get the fire giant or the scumbag Astel from the tunnel rot and deadly poisoned and watch them melt like a candle!
The problem is in how status effects work. Takes so many hits to actually inflict poison that by the time it starts doing damage, whatever you were hitting has about 10% of its health left from you swinging on it anyway.
That's unfortunate. Is there a way to tell that Poison Armament scales with Arcane? I'm having trouble with figuring that out. It's not even listed on the wiki. Whereas Bloodflame Blade reads: Does not scale with Arcane even when wearing the Dragon Communion Seal.
Never really tried it consistently, so that makes sense. Would you say it's better for small, fast weapons then? For faster application?
Frost mist alike can proc on the spot.
Also, the weapon coating giva a stronger buildup. A frost value would be even stronger on a Cold type.
Also how about the Poison Moth Flight ash-of-war? Deals bonus damage to poisoned targets, and you can make your weapon permanently poisonous by slapping it on. Haven't really checked out how strong it is, but it could be cool to know it exists. (You get it by beating a Night's Cavalry on the Caelid highway)
My poison recipe:
Always wear your Perfurmer cosplay armor. A exultatation talisman for your dps is advised.
Perfume poison mouth fume thingy. The wiki says it has the strongest coefficient for tick damage.
Thats a different mist then the Ash of War. Combine maybe?
Green rocks in their face.
In the Caleid highway shop, you get fire arrows and a bundle of poison item.
Buy the darts, sure, but try the stone clumps.
Turn your extra money into arrow too. It is the northest merchant of Caelid. Standing close to the divine tower
A Deadly type source to apply the proc will have stronger tick but last half as long.
Take some alternate source: Mist, throwable, poison grease.
Start a buildup annd hit with your Deadly (I like the R2 of Serbentbone katana.)
Poison Moth is hard to land and offer something unique. It is in the Dealdy poison type. However, it is to be used on a target that is already poisoned.
A finisher. On hit it will end the current poison. Turn it into a % Dmg. Simillar to a bleed proc.
The ultimate finishing move to a poison enthusiast.
Generally. It's pretty easy to fire off 6-12 pretty rapidly to proc early in a fight and then you're free to gouge the boss's health with a more damaging weapon affinity/buff/grease. Early in the game, a full proc duration can eclipse the amount of damage you can do in even a short amount of time, and i generally use it more early on in a new journey. I use them much less post-capital, since my builds usually have damage sorted at that point, but the only time they aren't effective is on the handful (or two) of bosses that are either immune, or don't really have a lot of HP, or other methods are more effective (holy for deathbirds/shades, fire for cleanrots, etc).
I usually make/buy ~200 darts total.
Personally, i haven't found a situation where poison on my weapon -through affinity or buff- was the best in any situation vs anything else i had access to.
