I don't know haha but I feel so lost all the time and would have liked slightly more handhelding I suppose.
Maybe there are obvious clues that others see but I don't lol.
You might be lost because the clues aren't obvious. And the game promotes being lost as a playstyle, which I like. Especially compared to today's games where you play with a transparent map open (or mini-map) during travel time while watching Netflix, ignoring the environment until you reach your destination.
How familiar are you with reading and interacting the map? I mean before you visit the area and it becomes named and marked on your map.
Example 1: The red circles on your map are tunnels. Tunnels are where smithing stones are found and farmed. And to a lesser extent, some somber stones as well. So when I enter a new zone, I take note of where the tunnel is. I may or may not go for it first. Since some tunnels aren't easy.
Example 2: The maze looking lines are ruins. Which are usually easy, and often have an underground (via stairs) reward via a chest. I usually like to hit ruins first in zones. Flasks refill easily there and I can retreat if necessary.
Once I adapted to the map, it was more natural to make up a mental quest log from it without the bloat. Also using map markers, etc.
It took me a while to git-gud, but....here we are. just keep trying king.
A character in the beginning tells you " Tanished .... Know well the lands between " You are supposed to explore and there is no wrong way to go about anything . You can tackle any boss in any order you see fit your first play thorough . You don't have to beat yourself in the head over and over again dying to the same boss. You can simply learn more about the game by reading the items like spells , weapons , and notes . This will let you know what's going on and give you information.
Once you understand how to build your character you'll smack bosses left and right and have fun while doing it. If a boss is beating you so badly you die in one hit its ok . Sometimes you need to explore to gather materials to upgrade weapons , armor , and spells so you can be strong enough to beat the boss. You level up in this game and you get stronger by learning kind of like in real life.
Knowledge is your best weapon in this game so acquire it and use it to win. You don't suck you just lack knowledge . Don't rush . You have two options bro .... you can either take your time and read stuff fully exploring and understanding the world of elden ring and have fun smacking bosses .... or ... you can try to run past enemies not learning anything and never hearing an NPC give you information because you skipped it and die OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN while getting frustrated .
Just explore and have fun and the game will be great to you. Rage and rush and it won't be .
Well you're wrong cause I'm gunna give it another go without the mod to make it easier.
Btw, I think this was supposed to be a joke. One of the early bosses says something like this. So it's a bit of a joke in the community to say this. Almost like the new "git gud."
