Horseback combat

I now have the sword of night and flame, so I'm carrying my staff in my left and my sword in my right. It has to be in my right hand for the special attacks to function (and to have some consistencies across multiple characters), but you can't do these magical attacks on horseback. So while I adjust to casting sorceries with my right mouse button while on foot I discover that oh crap.......... I'm rather gimp on horseback now as al I can really do is swing my pretty new sword.

I use a mouse and keyboard..... is there a way to switch weapons so that I can shift my staff to my right hand (temporarily) ??

You can use right arrow to toggle the weapons in right hand. Even on horse, if you had another staff you could have one in left hand and sword with a staff in right hand. It does increase the load on your character, but it does what you want.

No I want to use only two weapons, and both of them are unique (Meteorite Staff and the aforementioned sword). I need to be able to swap.

Hmmmm.... maybe two-handing the left hand weapon (the staff) ? Is that a thing ?

You can put sword and staff in right hand and be able to swap always. It's just that you will no longer be able to left click/ctrl to use sword and right click to use magic anymore. So it's kinda new style of how to play the game... The optimal would be what I described... xD

No I want to use only two weapons, and both of them are unique (Meteorite Staff and the aforementioned sword). I need to be able to swap.

Hmmmm.... maybe two-handing the left hand weapon (the staff) ? Is that a thing ?

When on horseback, you can either attempt to two-hand your right-side weapon, or actually two-hand your left-side weapon... both will switch to your left-hand weapon for use from your right-hand without having to alter your equipment loadout.

So (no idea how it is for M+Kb) with a Steam Deck (and I assume XBox controller): on horseback Y+L attack = equip L-hand weapon; Y+R attack = equip L-hand weapon anyways. Doing it again should switch back to the R-hand weapon.

You can also two-hand your L-hand weapon before mounting to use it instead of your R-hand weapon.

Not sure if that's quite what you meant, but I do it all the time on my mages. Melee sidearm on R, catalyst on L, two-hand catalyst for fighting on horseback without changing my load.

Ok, I tested it, you can press E on horseback and either left click or right click and it will switch weapon.

I'd like to use staff in my right hand, but it'll bugger me up with my sword which seems to demand to be in my right hand. Also as I play other sword wielding characters with shields, alternating how to melee will only confuse the crap out of me. I'm having a hard enough time adjusting to casting with my right mouse button as it is !!!!!!!!!
