What's the average level in pvp nowadays?
Returned to elden ring after a while.
What level is considered overleveled in pvp nowadays?
my friend keeps telling me that most people are playing at lv 200 and above but as an Old fashioned player i find it hard to believe.
Does colosseum scale the levels ?
Wanna stay at 150 to enjoy the DLC while before starting NG+ and still feel the adrenaline rush.

You can go up to RL166 to invade hosts between ~RL149 - RL202.

Just backup your save file before leveling up. That way, you can return to RL150 for the DLC.

Related question: Does the level range change depending on wether its an invasion, colliseum fight or red summon sign?

I think red summon signs follow the same rules as yellow summon signs: they match to 10% + 10 levels above or below the host's rune level
Host RL * 90% - 10 levels <= Phantom/Duelist RL <= Host RL * 110% + 10 levels

Invasions are skewed towards higher level hosts:
Invader RL * 90% <= Host RL <= Invader RL * 110% + 20 levels

Don't fully understand the colusseum matchmaking, but I think it follows the phantom/duelist rules. The quirk is that the matchmaking system determines who is host. This allows higher-level hosts to duel with players at the bottom edge of their level range, but not the opposite.

tl;dr
Red/yellow summon sign matchmaking is evenly distributed
Invasion matchmaking is skewed towards higher-level hosts
Colosseum is like red/yellow, but allows for weird edge cases

That's very informative, thank you.

As a side note, I've not been able to find a page but does anyone have a link or smthng to a sheet that calculates how the up/down scaling works when you summon someone via password thats technically outside your summon range? I could NEVER find clear answers on this. Sorry to be a bother.

Password summons aren't limited by host matchmaking. You can summon a max-level (RL713) phantom as an RL1 host if you both set the same multiplayer password. The only thing matchmaking does for passwords is downscale the stats of any phantom that is higher level than the host's summon range.

Yes thats what I'm asking, how does the scaling calculations work? How does the game calculate how much to downscale each of the stats? I'm curious cause often it felt like the downscaled person was doing a LOT less damage than the host. I can't find anything with google about it whatsoever.

Oh, you mean the numbers behind the downscaling. Sorry, don't know of a calculator specifically for downscaling.

At 133, it's taking too much time to find invasions for me. Colosseum duels are fine, though.

Interesting.
But how do i do that ?
I'm afraid it will mess up the save files.

Had same issue with invasions last weekend at RL138. Makes some sense for this weekend, as Baldur's Gate 3 was just released. And it appears to be very popular.

You can follow the steps for "how to make a manual save backup". If you want to restore it, just reverse the steps.
