Open your map and you can get a rough idea of where you need to go. You'll see some of the graces there pointing in various directions, indicating places of interest.
There's also an item called "Grace Mimic" that creates a fake grace that will often point to something of interest nearby.
Yeah.....amazing open world without hand-holding, just terrible.

Why do I have to read this **** again? Follow the golden lines. Or play an Ubisoft game. Not being handheld with little arrows and quest steps all the time is good game design for a change. This is ridiculous.
Those are also some of the worst bosses in the game. Also everything after Fire Giant is designed to murder you as quickly as possible and as many times as possible.
I think most people appreciate the fact that it feels like a real open world in the sense of exploration. then on your own you can make a notebook dedicated to Elden Ring, thats a lot of fun too. Or you can play blind and follow our hearts desire on where to explore
