Seriously... if I can force my way all the way from first Grace to the Altus Plateau without activating any Graces JUST to get the Lightning Ram Ash of War... then you can nip over to southwest Caelid for a sword.
Off-topic, I have OCD too. And Lyendell Sewers was the worst. Took me nearly 30 hours to map everything out and to do 100%. I never want to go down there ever again!
PS: It was even worse for me because it leads back to Deeproots which leads to Ainsel River which leads Nokstella which leads to that rot lake. And from rot lake you can go even down and get a boss fight and then go up to Rannis place. So in my mind everything was connected and I did Rannis quest, Fias quest while 100% exploring all these areas. This is why it took me so long. The sewer kinda connects everything to Lyendell. I have a love / hate relationship with it at this point.
But if you're set on doing things in order... keep in mind that from where you start, Margitt, Stormveil Castle, and most of the rest of the game are to the North-West. The Weeping Peninsula is to the South. Caelid is to the East. From a map perspective, the game isn't made to be done in a completely linear fashion. And if you wanted to clear out the map mostly clockwise or in a linear fashion then Caelid would be the place to start. HOWEVER most of Caelid is far tougher than Limgrave, and tougher than Liurnia of the Lakes as well for that matter.
I CAN understand not wanting to unlock Roundtable Hold until you're absolutely ready for it since I did the same myself. I took the Transporter Trap in the ruins by Agheel's lake to a cave in Caelid and used THAT as a staging ground for collecting resources from Caelid without activating a Grace Site there... And like I said, I also went to Altus Plateau without activating any Grace Sites along the way to get what I wanted while retaining correct quest progression.
Then again, maybe I'm just pushing this angle because I don't see any reason why anyone would want to be gifted an item by someone else if they were able to get it themselves. Sorry if I seem overly pushy.
It is important to learn to compartmentalise things and to draw boundaries... and keep it all correctly organised. If the game was linear then we wouldn't have this issue, but it isn't. There will always be places where we are presented with a junction... a choice regarding whether we take our strip-mining collecting habits left or right, and have to remember to come back later and go in the other direction.
Random Trivia: On my first playthrough, I did mainland Limgrave in its entirety EXCEPT for Stormveil Castle, then Weeping Peninsula in its entirety. then the Siofra River lower tier in its entirety, then Caelid in its entirety except for Redmane Castle (a severe struggle)... and only after I was done grabbing everything I possibly could from those areas, did I finally consent to fighting Margaret... and completely wiped the floor with him.
Random Trivia #2: My second Great Rune was Mohg. Paranoia about breaking quest-chains saw to that.
