It also depends on the weapon you use. If you use guts greatsword for example you can hyperarmor through quite some stuff if you also have some poise. It's hard to make lists for that since there are so many variables.
You have to test it for yourself.. it depends on the enemys weapons. Your poise stat.. your weapon.. etc etc.

dodge or block the attack
The hyperarmor usually increases poise until 60 base poise, which is good.
After that, you get negative hyperarmor, which reduces poise slightly while hyperarmoring
f.e. if you go for 100 base poise, you loose poise while hyperarmoring to like 80-90 (don't remember exactly).
It's stupid, I couldn't believe it, too, but that's what I remember.
Pvp is different, but it seems, that high poise is quite useful against smaller weapons.
Sounds stupid, but it actually makes sense, physically.
I mean this is not a simulator obviously, but this is actually kinda realistic :D
