So i was just having some fun coop'ing with my RL 30 gimp in Stormveil castle that would probably have stayed RL30 for coop but then Rogier hands me a +8 Rapier.

that surprise sucks, stormveil is a very funny area to coop and invade.

Even if you dodged Rogier's Rapier +8 devs would still shoved +8 halberd
from NPC invader into your inventory soon after so don't feel bad :-)

Use that one for higher level coop and make a new character. I can give you runes and gear if you want to skip the grind. I won't be free until later tonight though.

your characters weapon upgrade level for the purposes of online matchmaking cannot be lowered, putting it away/dropping it/discarding it will not change it

I was happy to find that for my newer characters, I was able to close out that conversation and avoid getting the +8 until later. That way I can keep my nice matchmaking. But yeah, that sucks.

if u ever want to start a new low weapon lv character, here's some headsup, just don't tell rogier u defeat godrick, u can progress rest of his quest normally. and if u do so as stated above, when he dies, u can pick his remians ONLY for the FIRST time(give u his armor), don't pick up a second time(give u rapier and letter). when u get invaded by edgar in lake area, just ignore him and run far away, he will go back to his world after some distance. or alternatively, u can kill him when he mourns for irina but don't pick up what he left on the ground. However either way, u can't progress hyetta's quest, because u can't get his grape without getting his +8halberd (if u kill him early, backout game and return, the grape will be on floor along with halberd if u haven't pick it up before)(but it also means if u give up u low weapon run, u can still complete her quest later). thirdly when u do patches quest, backup ur save first, if u accidentally kill him, u get +7spear.
