Ghosty white tower things

In the Altus Pateau area there are lots of these ghosty white towers with tapestry/banners hanging from them. Very tall. What are they and are we supposed to interact with them in some way? Thanks to whoever for taking the time to answer.

I guess that is what I am wondering too. Is there a puzzle of some sort that interacts with them and a quest? I see the idea that they are a specter of times past but I have thought they dont really fit the scenery so maybe there is another purpose. So there is a puzzle to them?

In Radahn fight similar banners indicate places where summon sings are. Here they might indicate encampments or places of interest. Or indeed they could mean nothing at all and are just an effect that Leyndell itself or Morgott project on the plateau.
