Honest question about modding.
Hey guys.

I mostly play the game as a single player, I only cooped at the start, it doesn't really interest me now. For the sake of cosplaying, I would like to use the Waterfowl dance ash with uchigatana.

I found a mod that could theoretically do this:

https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/271

However, I don't want to be banned for this. Anyone has experience with modding in this game. I feel like it's a shame that the most beautiful weapon art in the whole game is locked behind a single weapon. All the other weapon arts that resemble anything close to a dance are just not so interesting.

Thanks in advance for any replies :rarebutterfly:

All mods have to be played offline and you'll be banned if using them in online mod.

But is it enought to launch the game session in offline mode?
I highly doubt that this is enough, as EAC is still launched with an online connection.
IIRC to be safe you should a) disable EAC (e.g. by renaming the executables) and set steam to offline mode. You might even wanna set a Firewall rule to be extra sure.

Freaking hell, not worth the mess... I think I'd rather take the ban...

Dont listen to this just start the game without eac, it will automatically then launch in offline and youre good

Although I don't have any personal experience due to playing on console, I did see a Nexus Mod taking about allowing you to launch in offline and mod friendly so that might be something worth looking into.

Disabling anticheat is super easy, barely an inconvenience. You can install something to where all you have to do is open the game folder and double click "toggle_anticheat", or just rename a file. If you can handle modding the game you can certainly handle disabling anticheat.

I would make a separate Steam account and family share Elden Ring with it. That way you can use one account for modding (and get banned), but can still use the other account for normal online activity if you ever decide to return to it. Get the best of both worlds.

Plus Elden Ring does have some pretty interesting mods in the works

Once again, no personal experience, but on this forum people have claimed to get banned based on what a shared account did; so I'd recommend doing some research to confirm whether that's true or not.

Heard about this too.

first of all, do not do the family share thing as some are suggesting. that works for ds3 but in ER if your fam share gets banned, your main acct does too.

several patches ago they added a feature that does not let you equip weapons with invalid ashes of war. you used to be able to spawn stuff like unsheathe zwei with CE and use it online without getting banned. now if you spawn that with CE and try to equip it, you get a message telling you the ash is invalid, and the game automatically removes it, so its not even possible to give yourself an invalid ash/weapon combo offline using a mod or CE and then go online without the mod or CE - the unsheathe zwei would be in your inventory, but as soon as you equip it, the game would automatically revert it to its default ash of war.

what you want is not possible.
