IMO they should be removed, simply they make the game too easy. The game is already easy enough.
Whenever im on twitch, and see someone play ER they play soooo bad and get destroyed by bosses, then they just use a spirit ash or summon a npc and win with ease.
Its like, whats the point in even playing or trying to improve or maybe even level up if u can just summon? I don't feel like u achieve anything when u just get help to beat a boss.
They play so bad and still win because of help, and then the chat spams "EZ" ofc its gona be ez when u getting carried

Firstly, cooperative has always been part of this game, for that reason. Much to your disbelief, statistically, the game actually is harder if you coop. Boss health and resistances increase. That does not mean you cannot overlevel the boss, but most bosses are "easy" if you know how to use your build, or know what their weaknesses are.

I dont exactly like spirit ashes, as the only one I ever used was the mimic, and then its trivialized. They hold agro and just attack.

I am playing a coop run with my girl atm, we have 600 hours combined in ER, and I have even more in every other FS game. Why should I not be allowed to play coop if I want? We are invaded.. CONSTANTLY. I enjoy PVP, and I like the invasion system as it is. Yea, we don't play meta sweatlord builds, we build for PVE, so when we get dusted, its a GG. When we dust someone, its a GG.

There have been a few optional bosses, that we have invested a few hours into, and it happens. Some of the godskins and Astel, main encounter and dungeon encounter have given us trouble, just because we keep getting the short end of the stick on the movesets.

TLDR:

You play your game, which you payed for, how you want, and I will play mine, how I want.
If I wanted a solo experience, I would be playing offline. My first run of every souls game is always solo. Yes, people crutch on 2 summons, and it trivializes the game. But guess what, its still increased health pool. Do you, and play the game how you want.

As the Elden Ring prelate playing a NG 25 and more than 1700 hours i ask you why?......WHY you want to remove a feature of Elden Ring oh my Elden RIng?

You dont like it? all fine and dandy dont use it and problem solved. Nothing more to say really, i invite you to read your post. Asking in a videogame forums to remove a feature someone can use without affecting you at all.

It's not about them ruining their experience though, is it? You are playing the game properly. You overcome obstacles. You are awesome. You want people to acknowledge that and not think that you excel at an easy game.

Try invading. Punish these pathetic easy mode users. Double points if you make them cry on twich.

Why do you care about how people experience a game that they paid for with their money? If they want to coop, let them praise the jolly coop. It makes literally no difference to your playthrough.

Besides, all the folks that dont like invasions have already moved over to seemless coop. So none of it matters anyway.

That is your opinion and you are welcomed to it, that is all. I highly doubt it ruins it for new players. Most probably see the co op tag, or they are introduced to it by a friend who plays, so the sole reason they CHOOSE to play is to co op. Others, of course, may choose not to.

I like to co op with my friends just because I enjoy the company. I can solo the bosses just fine, no problem. Just better doing it with friends. And when solo, for that extra challenge, I activate the taunter's tongue just so I can still have my loved invasions that I am used to having from the dark souls games. Makes it a lot of fun when clearing a new area and seeing that I'm getting invaded in the process.

As far as spirit ashes go.. I like it and the concept. I think some of them are rather cute so will use them occasionally while I'm out messing around or farming materials for crafting. They are hardly game breaking or something that would 'ruin' the experience for others.

You should stop trying to project yourself on other people. Everyone is different.

But you are not going to play the game of that people, why gatekeep them?. What happens if someone wants to go around with an little army of envoys beating the baddies with holly molly bubbles and trumpets....you want to deprive people of that, let them enjoy their game please.

Normal gameplay assumes you are using them in some capacity. You can choose which ones you use based on utility or strength. Or you can try without. Your choice.

NPC summons (and PC summons) have always been a part of these games, and since DS1 this same discussion existed ;)

That's just the way how Fromsoft introduces easy-mode. Nothing wrong with it, IMO a more elegant way then just give an option in the settings.

Normally I would agree about the bell summons if the game would be balanced without them but it really isn't.

Even if you remove the summons there are still dozens of ways to win in this game without having to learn how to dodge most of the enemy moves. Like ranged spells spamming or jump attack spamming

So it's kinda whatever, even without them people would be able to access an easy mode.

That is just a fact, they are the easy-mode. But what exactly is wrong with it? You have something against people playing games on easy?
